To Tekong

The island was far more welcoming that I expected it to be. The smiley army boy guide, comfortable bus ride, short and sweet tour of Falcon block and a taste of what the boys would eat at the canteen.

It almost makes me want to experience army life.

I cld feel the pulsating excitement of the teenage boys waiting to turn into men. (altho i'm sure some never do) And I anticipate my little brother learning to drop his spoilt, rude, ill-disciplined ways. Sis and I were sniggering to ourselves, going "yes, yes" when he was told to tuck in his shirt even before reaching tekong, at the ferry terminal.

Don't be mistaken, he's one boy I'm terribly proud of for many reasons. He just need some good old discipline. I imagine him going thru the obstacle course, doing sit-ups with the medicine ball, sleeping with 15 other bunkmates, making his own bed (for the first time in his life).

The energy searing thru the (in)famous island was infectious. The stories waiting to be told. The sweat and stress. The cries of victory. Such a great place.

Stupid bro, be a good boy and stay safe.
